Every project you start alone reaches a point where your own time is no longer enough. For Sarkari Job, that point came this year. Handing it to a team wasn't giving it up. It was the best way to look after the people who use it.
At a glance
- Started as
- My hobby project for government job seekers
- Today
- A DIGIVILL TECH product, with a team behind it
- My role
- Still involved, as a co-founder of DIGIVILL TECH
- Coming next
- An Android app and test series (planned)
Where it started
I spent nearly three years preparing for SSC exams while teaching at a private school. I appeared in CHSL and CGL, and finally cleared SSC GD 2018. Through all of it, a big part of preparation wasn't studying at all. It was keeping track of notifications, application dates, admit cards, answer keys and results.
After I left the BSF in 2023, I went back to writing about government jobs and exam preparation. Sarkari Job grew out of that as a hobby project with one simple aim: help job seekers in India find information about government jobs and follow the recruitment process, from the first notification to the result.
When a hobby isn't enough
As the site grew, more people started relying on it. That changes how you think about a project. A recruitment update doesn't wait for your free evening, and an aspirant checking for their admit card deserves the same care whether it's a busy day for you or not.
I also had more I wanted to build for them than I could manage alone. I had to be honest with myself: the project needed more time and attention than a hobby can give.
"If people depend on something you built, it deserves more than your spare time."
Why I brought it to DIGIVILL TECH
Sarkari Job is now managed by DIGIVILL TECH. The wider team takes care of technical development, operations and support, so the site can be run more consistently. I'm still part of the work as a co-founder, and my own role in the company is growth and finance: helping our products reach more people.
What stays the same
The purpose hasn't changed. Sarkari Job still focuses on:
- Government job notifications and recruitment updates
- Application details
- Admit cards and answer keys
- Results
The address is the same too: www.sarkarijob.com.
What comes next
An Android app is coming soon, so job notifications can reach people directly on their phones. We're also planning a test series to help users prepare for exams. Both are plans for now, and DIGIVILL TECH will share details as each one is ready.
You can read the company's announcement in Sarkari Job's next chapter.
What this taught me
My exam years taught me that consistency beats talent. Building Sarkari Job taught me the next part: consistency at scale needs more than one person. Asking for help, or handing something to a team, isn't a step back. Sometimes it's the only way to keep a promise to the people you started for.
If you have a question or an idea that could make Sarkari Job more helpful, write to sarkari.job@digivill.tech. Thank you to everyone who used it while it was still a small hobby project.
